Taking Home with You
Taking Home with You was part of an event organized by artist Sang-Mi Yoo for the SGCI conference in New Orleans in 2012. The contemporary idea of home is reimagined through printed paper sculptures, reflecting our nomadic and transitory lives. The prints were made with cut and fold marks within the image to allow event participants to cut, fold, and glue to make a collapsible paper home, that they can take with them. All of the proceeds from the participants' voluntary donations went to the American Red Cross to help those affected by 2011 tsunami in Japan. For this piece, also titled Taking Home with You, I used the paper bag form with the facade of a typical Korean high-rise apartment building.
